This year’s October meet brought great fortune to the SL team and the Adelaide car scene. Firstly; it brought the first bout of decent weather in many weeks, following several meets in dreadful weather conditions. Secondly; it was our first meet to be held in daylight savings this spring, so we enjoyed soaking up what was left of the Adelaide sunset in the greatest setting we could ever wish for – a parade of some of Adelaide’s finest vehicles in a quirky new location. Thirdly; we named it OctoBEE-R after a literal hat-draw between that and ‘Stocktober’. It was a tough decision, so we left it to chance! The puns don’t stop at Slow Life HQ…
IKEA Adelaide was the place to be on Saturday night. It was the first time that we have ventured to this Airport-based location, and our friends tell us that we were the largest assembly of cars the IKEA parking facilities had ever seen as well! Going by all the feedback we received after this event, we can see that you loved the location too, and we will be endeavoring to return to IKEA again in the future! We would like to extend our thanks to the IKEA team for allowing us the use of their parking facilities on the night, we had so much fun and we think the blue and yellow backdrop will have to make a comeback!
As the sun set, we set our eyes on a huge variety of sweet, delicious cars. There was everything. JDM, euro, exotic, domestic, muscle, stanced, stock… It was all there. Oh, and an FD RX7 Time Attack spec race car. Just casually! Our main feature car for the night drew a spectacular crowd. The minute Brad Trenwith‘s triple-rotor behemoth roared to life to slip off the tow truck, the crowds assembled by the dozens! We’re pretty sure that even the aircraft overhead could hear the braps! At 7:30 we had Brad start it up again to demonstrate the sheer perfection of this monster, which will be heading off to Sydney for World Time Attack next week! You’ll be able to catch Brad cometing in the pro class at the SA Time Attack at the end of the month! Remember that we’re still accepting entries for our Show ‘N’ Shine at the SA Time Attack – you can find the entry form here!
Other feature cars for the evening included our friends BANKRPT (Mercedes C63 AMG) and BULL (Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4), teamed up with a gorgeous white Gallardo, an Audi TTS, another Time Attack street spec entrant Evo 8 (EVO EGO), the Partners in Grime lavender Evo 8 and our Tiffany Blue Audi TT. There were some incredible cars spotted throughout the night, and we can’t begin to mention them all! Remember that if you’ve snapped a ride and you’re on instagram, you can add us on instagram here! Our username is @slowlifeau, and we use the hashtag #slowlifeau in all of our pics; so we encourage you to as well!
Overall, we would have to say that this has been one of our favourite meets this year. Sunshine, great rides, great vibes, and the community coming together which we know and love. We look forward to catching you at the SA Time Attack at the end of the month, and bringing you yet another meet next month! We wonder what the November event will be titled…
Until next time, Slowlives!
