Some may have noticed that there has not been a Slow Life event planned for August… Truth be told; we’ve been quite busy! This is the reason why…
Team SL are proud to announce that we’re hosting the official Show & Shine at the upcoming Drift Challenge Australia event ‘King of the Hill’ this September! This is a massive step forward for us, and we guarantee to bring what is promised to be a weekend of cars, entertainment and fun. We’re talking judges, trophies, goodie bags, guest drivers, live entertainment… All the things we know and love about a show & shine!
The upcoming DCA event is the first of its kind in Australia for a national competition. Why? Because it’s the first time we have seen a drift event outside of the bounds of the track! The road used is located just outside of Mount Gambier, and will require a new level of unprecedented skill, practice and preparation. Drivers will for the first time in Australia face a track with harsh concrete barriers, and in some cases, no barriers at all! It’s a perfect stretch of road which despite not featuring much high-speed drift, will see a LOT of skilled sideways action and a change of mentality for the drivers. Several renown drivers will be competing at the event; with the likes of Matt Bennetts and Stewie Bryant confirmed, plus numerous other national and international competitors from the first round in Tasmania.
The event will run over three days – beginning Friday September 23rd. Friday will be predominantly a practice day for existing competitors, plus a bit of fun for those who missed out on a competitive spot. The real fun begins on Saturday the 24th and carries through to Sunday the 25th – with competitive runs all day, a parade through the city centre, and a social event in Mount Gambier on Saturday night! Expected spectators range from anywhere between 3000-5000 spectators, so if you’re keen to head down, we highly suggest booking accommodation ASAP! Spectator costs range from $5 for the Friday, $10 for Saturday, $15 for Sunday, or a weekend pass for $20. Family entertainment (bouncing castles etc.) will be available and passenger ride opportunities will be available for those wanting to experience the run themselves! You can find more info about the event here and watch the promotional video below.
Now for the Show & Shine… Slow Life is really excited to be hosting the official DCA Show & Shine this year! It’ll be a fair drive from Adelaide, but it’s guaranteed to be a weekend of fun. We’ve organised quite a bit for entrants; including live entertainment, goodie bags, judges and various award categories based on the class of vehicle. Awards will be available for best JDM, best Euro, best stance, best bike, best interior, cleanest engine bay, best VIP and of course best overall. The Show & Shine runs for two days – and the advantage of that is that competitors will have a prime parking spot for the weekend! We’re located trackside – so we’re right in the middle of all the action, with entertainment, food and drift action everywhere you look. Upon entry, you’ll receive a goodie bag containing some really cool stuff including a special edition Slow Life sticker available for entrant cars only! Our official detailing partner Partners in Grime will also be heading down with us with special deals to get your car looking perfect on-site. There are ONLY 50 spots available, so you’ll have to get in fast!
Entry is $15 per vehicle, and includes entry for the owner of the vehicle (not including passengers) to DCA for the entire weekend. You can find the entry form here!
This isn’t the first time Slow Life has hosted a show & shine… It brings back fond memories of our two previous shows at the Adelaide Auto Expo! If you were at these events, you’ll know we like to have a great time and bring something different to the show & shine scene. We can’t wait to see you there!
