Something we’ve always found particularly exciting in Adelaide over the years is the birth of a new business within the car community. Even over our four years being a part of Adelaide’s car community (albeit we’ve only been around for a very short time in comparison to others) we’ve seen some very successful young entrepreneurs bring some excellent products and ideas and turn them into a living. Such examples include Dizzi Decalz, Partners in Grime, Automotive Therapy, Redefined Detailing and the expansion of (the pre-existing) Driven Motorsport. We’ve come to know the minds and hearts behind these successful local businesses , and the countless hours, love, blood, sweat and tears that they pour into turning their dreams into a success.
Perhaps the most recent brainchildren to be born in Adelaide’s automotive business community is CI Performance Parts; and trust us when we say it’s a really solid concept. They are the major sponsor of the upcoming SA Time Attack tomorrow, so let’s give them a little introduction.
CI Performance Parts is a subsidiary brand of the well renowned parts and performance shop Custom Importz (that’s where the CI comes from, obviously). Originally founded in 2007; Custom Importz is the brand brought to life by Kahli & Tom Bell, and has seen great success over its 11 years. CI has recently undergone a complete relocation to (rather massive) brand new, state of the art premises and specializes in mechanical and cosmetic vehicle modifications and servicing.
The brand has served a rather significant role in Adelaide’s car community over its time through services including supplying and fitment of parts, mechanical repairs/modification, performance tuning/dyno, accessories advice and cosmetic modification. It’s essentially become a ‘one stop shop’ for the aftermarket modification scene, and it’s come back to the fact that the business was built by car lovers for car lovers.
Following the relocation to their new premises in Lonsdale; Kahli and Tom Bell brought their next idea to life; CI Performance parts. A performance parts store where guests can gain access to quality, high-end performance parts off the shelf, and receive advice regarding their modification ideas. We ventured to the brand new store literally days after its completion, and we were beyond impressed with what we found.
Quality? Yep, definitely quality. The store stocks all of the usual high-end performance brands including Nitto, Turbosmart, Hardrace, and Splitfire. Garrett turbochargers lined the glass shelving, which caught our eyes almost immediately after we entered. Fuel rails, blow-off valves, engine internals – it was all these, and yes, it had us dreaming very quickly. In all honesty; we haven’t come across too many stores in SA which offer high-end performance products right off the shelf. It’s uncommon, but we’re glad that there’s now a place that we can head to see parts in person, ask questions or place orders (we didn’t place any because #povlife). It was also fantastic to see support of other local businesses – we caught a range of customized and polished engine components produced by the local JL Design & Fab.
Alongside the array of performance parts available; we also came across the popular Hardtuned merchandise range lining the chelves; along with various Custom Importz and other automotive brand apparel. We might have to think about sending some of our stuff there… Either way; it was spread before us like a delicious, mouth-watering automotive apparel feast, and we were prepared to go all Victoria’s Secret and try it all on (minus the lingerie, unfortunately). There was even a fridge adorned in genuine Japanese drinks (such as the really fun drinks you get at sushi train and suffer from mild anxiety when pushing the marble into the bottle to open).
CI Performance Parts is a name we’ll be remembering. Not only are they the major sponsor for SA Time Attack; but they’re also going to stay on our radar in the long-term when we think performance part needs. It’s always exciting to welcome a new name to the Adelaide business community. We’ve always been about supporting the local economy, and having an additional performance parts specialist can never go astray. Who would say no to off-the-shelf turbo? We certainly wouldn’t (we’re actually day-dreaming because we struggle to afford a door hinge from U-Pull-It). Nonetheless; we’ll be keeping an eye on the path that lays ahead for the CI brand in 2018, because it’s bound to be an exciting one.
