Join the Team

Since 2014, Slowlife has been delivering events, media and content to the Adelaide car community. That’s five years of hard work, passion, and learning new skills as we go along! Slowlife may look like it’s handling it all with ease, but it wouldn’t be without the passion, hard work and ideas brought about by our committed team of volunteers… and we want YOU to be one of them!

Did you know that Slowlife is comprised entirely of volunteers..? Everything we do has been voluntary, and every cent we’ve ever made has gone straight back into developing our events, equipment, and generally up-keeping our brand to keep doing what we’re doing!

There are many ways that you can help Slowlife deliver on its promise to be the voice and the hub of the Adelaide car community, and we’ve got a lot of projects behind the scenes that we could use some help with. With effort comes reward, and some of our volunteers have gone on to become very successful in their career ambitions with the skills they’ve learned here at Slowlife. Events, media, merchandising, marketing and strategy… It’s a lot more than just car meets and photos here!

Our team was feeling very accomplished following SlowCase 2019, and we couldn’t be more proud!

Our Culture

Being a Slowlife volunteer is like being a part of a really big family. We look out for each other, we make new friends, and we encourage you to grow and be the best version of yourself that you can be. Slowlife’s culture is all about growth, respect and community. We’re all about diversity, and as you can see above, our team is diverse in age and gender (even our mums have helped from time to time)!

Our team love having a fun night out as much as we love getting together to plan our next event, and you will find yourself immersed in an exciting lifestyle of car-related fun with a culture that supports building strong friendships and having fun every step of the way. Our team look beyond our own culture, and consider SL’s impact on the entire SA car community in everything we do.

Slowlife is fun, and we intend to keep it that way! We’re all about enjoying everything that we do, and offer support for all of our members to build a strong and committed team of young people with a passion for cars and the community that surrounds it.

Develop Your Skills

Over the last five years; Slowlife has seen many young people step into our team with little to no experience in their field of passion, and we have supported their development and have provided opportunities for them to hone on their skills and grow into highly successful and passionate individuals who have gone on to achieve great things!

Some of our volunteers have progressed to become accomplished photographers and film specialists with consistent paid work due to their high level of skill and commitment to learning. We have seen volunteers progress to full-time jobs in the events sector, including at leading motorsport complexes and even wedding planning! We provide feedback, training and guidance with your skills to help you become the best version of yourself that you can be, and we want to see you excel and bring your ideas and input to the table to ensure that our future events, media and products are the best that they can be, and improve every time.

Slowlife consists of several teams – events, media, merchandising and promotions. The events team is responsible for all of our events – yep, Slowlife Saturdays and SlowCase are their babies! The media team consists of our photographers, film specialists, writers and social media masters. They take care of all of the features, films, media coverage and articles to keep our content top notch. Our merchandising team design and produce all of our merch including our stickers, apparel, banners and lanyards and they help us get those products to you at our events. Our promotions team, formerly the ‘Slowlife Girls’, is a team of young women with a passion for cars who act as a ‘face’ for Slowlife at our events. They’re there to meet our event guests, showcase our merchandise, be your guide, and to talk to you about your car.

We need help in all of these areas, and there are plenty of skills that we want to see around Slowlife!

What We’re Looking For

We’re on the hunt for the next generation of Slowlife volunteers to drive Slowlife into the future and carry on with all of our values and projects! We’re in need of all sorts of skill-sets, and we’re sure that you’ve got some skills that will be valuable in our team.

We’re looking for people who are passionate about cars, and who are prepared to put in some hard work to build our community! Our volunteers should ideally possess the following qualities:

  • An awareness of professionalism, and an attention to presentation (appearance, spelling/grammar and speech)
  • Availability on weekends for Slowlife events and meetings
  • Time to commit to behind-the-scenes responsibilities during the week
  • Reliability to commit to events, meetings and your responsibilities
  • A willingness to take on new skills, constructive criticism, and preparation to learn new things
  • A general knowledge and passion for cars and the SL brand (IMPORTANT)!

If you think that you can help us unite our community, ignite the passion in Adelaide’s car community, act as their voice, and deliver some kick-ass events and content, then we can’t wait to hear from you. Attend one of our bi-monthly information sessions to learn more about what Slowlife does behind the scenes, and sign up to become a volunteer today!

Please note that all SL volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
